If you hunt hogs at night much from a stand near a feeders, you may have figured out that red light doesn't bother them much at all, while a sudden blast of "white" light from a Q-beam will send them running. Also, even white lights that are on when the hogs arrive don't bother them as much as one suddenly switched on by a shooter. The line of feeder lights marketed by Texas Boars use high intensity, solid state red light modules that will run all night - and more - on a 12v deep cycle marine battery and light up an area up to 200 yards away, depending on model and power. I have both an original "Classic Red" 6 watt output, three light setup and a newer "Big Red" with 9 watt output. Both are mounted on small boards that are hinged in the windows of my stands, so they can be raised inside when not in use, but a tripod adapter is available to use them in the open and make them portable. The latest "RPG" models use two red lights and one green, to give an amber tint to the output for the ultimate in both vision and stealth in lighting. There are even mounts that let these lights be used on a scope for night sighting. Also available is a high intensity white light.

I have taken several hogs under these lights - including my best boar to date - and watched even more, and they appear totally unaware of the red glow. The three light module allows each light to be adjusted at a slightly different angle to cover more area than a single beam would. My 9 watt setup is on a stand 100 yards from my cabin, with the feeder an additional 60 yards from the stand. I can look from the cabin at night and see hogs working in the light 150+ yards away well enough for a shot from there with a good scope, and from the stand itself shots to the feeder are easy. I do, however, have a backdrop of light colored sheet metal behind the feeder to help see a dark hog better. These lights are also great for night time predator calling.
